Novozymes is an enzyme production facility located at the bio-refinery complex in Blair, Nebraska. They provide the biofuels industry with a way to efficiently bring ethanol and industrial chemicals to the marketplace. Novozymes is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of the next generation of biofuels. As an on-site project engineering resource, EAD is the company that clients go to for help in executing their most critical capital projects.
In March of 2017, IPS was tasked with building control panels for 5 remote terminal units (RTU) on five new fermenters and one panel for an additional cooling tower cell. Novozymes, IPS and contractor personnel were all heavily involved in the scheduling and construction of the project which ultimately provided Novozymes with a deliverable that was on-time and within budget.
“The goal for Novozymes was to increase fermentation capacity by one-third. This includes five new fermenters, utility support units as well as additional recovery equipment. The control panels were used on the five new fermenters and the utility equipment (cooling tower).”- Sean Kendle, IPS Associate Controls Engineer
IPS was awarded the job because Novozymes knew we would meet the strict seven-week deadline. The project was ultimately a success, with the last panel installed before the deadline in May 2017.
